Phantom 2 extra power from TX...

Does anybody have a real answer to the question if the lower pot on the TX of the Phantom 2, not the 2 Vision, but the Phantom 2, can be set for extra output or not. The newer Phantom 2 TX has no beep to let you know it is in the high power mode. Does that mean it does nothing? Please post what you know.
