I'm looking to fly my P4 over a lake. I've seen this question (below) in one form or another brought up but have not yet seen a clear and confident answer.

Considering that it is not possible to turn off VPS on a P4, what is the clear without a doubt safe minimum height one could fly over water? I've seen one person state 30 or more feet. Does anyone else agree/disagree?

I'm not interested in putting tape over a sensor so, if that's the resolution then it's not for me.

Also, I'm putting a Litchi mission together over the same lake. There is an option to turn off VPS in the software. Has anyone verified this Litchi option actually works?

Per the Phantom 4 specs, VPS is only effective from 0-33 feet above the ground.

So, it would appear a safe planning strategy would be to take off on land, get up over 33 feet, then start the journey over water. Then, when landing, get the aircraft over land then drop to below 33 feet, etc.

Thanks msinger!

Black tape over bottom sensors will disable.

If you have the Litchi app you can turn off VPS.

Only problem I have low over water is my VPS kicks up an error so then disables itself. Weird. Only does it occasionally.
