Theoretically yes, once replacement parts are available for the P2V+. Practically? No, as it would be prohibitively expensive and much more cost-effective to just buy a new P2V+.

i personally don't, but the longer you hold on to it the price will drop since the new one is now out.

How safe is it to sell one on ebay? Always afraid that someone will claim they received an empty box and paypal will give them there money back.

Take lots of pictures, record the serial number and insure the package for whatever it sells for. I use ebay all the time, no problems.. aside from the 10% you lose in fees to ebay/paypal.
