Old Phantom 1 or New FC 40?

I posted earlier that I had just received the Phantom 1 that I'd ordered. I expected the newest version (1.1.1) but received an earlier version (1.2.1). I thought I'd just return the Phantom 1 to Amazon and purchase a 1.1.1 from another source but it seems to be sold out.

We already have a GoPro so don't really need the camera that comes with the FC 40 but if everything else is equal to or better than the Phantom 1, I'll order it.

This is for a birthday gift and I have about a week to get it figured out and would appreciate any advise.

JMO but stick with one you can use the GoPro with, better video and upgrade options. If you can get your money back couldn't you just buy one from B&H? They could ship and have it for you in time.

The only way you'd be better off is to go with a P2/P2V/P2V+ but that is kind of subjective depending on what you want to get out of it. The FC40 is kind of outdated already.

I never opened the box to investigate farther. I just sent it back. I printed the shipping label from Amazon, dropped it off at an UPS Store about 11 this morning and had an email an hour later saying my CC had been credited the refund.

I'll make sure the next one is a 1.1.1!
