New battery auto-discharging feature?

I believe you can check the level and it doesn't reset the time so long as you don't turn the battery on.
My test battery is now at about 50% after 15 days - it continued to discharge despite being checked a couple of days ago.
There is no sign of any warmth at all, it should be safe left in a bag or case.
