I run my newly purchased P3A with a 64 card. AC and controller have latest firmware updates.

If I want to have an identical 64 card standing by as a backup for whatever reason... I guess I simply prepare it exactly like the currently used card?

Thanks!

There is nothing to prepare. Insert a blank memory card and you're ready to go.

Gotcha, I thought that .bin thingy doodad had to be on the card.

I accidentally tried to start my craft inside without a memory card, and it wouldn't complete startup sequence.

I figured it had to read that file on the card.

I don't think I had my controller on though, I was trying to drain the battery a bit in standby (no props running).

The BIN file only needs to be in the root of the memory card when you want to install new firmware. After you're done installing new firmware and you've powered up your Phantom with each battery (if new battery firmware needs to be installed), you can delete the BIN file.

Even if your memory card is new-out-of-the-box, I would still recommend formatting it in the settings menu of the DJI Go app.
