Before I get an ipad, I want to know just how the signal from the bird gets to the ipad.
As an ipad does not have a 5.8ghz receiver, does it use wifi totally?
What is the maximum range with an ipad?

Is this for use with a Vision or a normal Phantom 2?
If you want to do this with a Normal Phantom or Phantom 2 then you can't. There's no way to use an iPad as an FPV screen.

If it's with a Vision or Vision+ then you just connect the ipad to the booster with 2.4GHz as you would with an iPhone.

P2 non vision.

Seems to me I have seen and read where people are connecting ipads to standard p2's with no problems.
Isn't this the purpose of the data link?

Ah... your talking Ground Station (datalink) then on a P2? If that is the case then it would help if we knew that! Even with GS you can not FPV through it. I would suggest if this is a GS enquiry to post in that dedicated forum.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 8

As a ground station (map and waypoints, not an FPV screen) the iPad connects via bluetooth to the ground station, which then communicates with the aircraft over 2.4GHz.
