How can I update firmware on the phantom 3 standard?

How do I update firmware on the P3S?
I know that you can update the firmware by the app, but do you have to update the battery and controller firmware by microSD like the advanced and professional models?

when you power on drone and rc and app does it say firmware update

You will have to disconnect the wifi from the bird in order to get the update from your wifi network via the go app.. Once downloaded, reconnect wifi to bird and then start the update. Be sure the SD card is inserted.
