HI read all you can find,,not own p2 but same across the board....knowledge is the key.read ..understand..and enjoy:)

Hi Epic,

Welcome to the forum. There are a bunch of very knowledgeable people here that are very happy to help you. You also may want to share your good times, too as we enjoy seeing someone enjoying their Phantom.

I have a P2 without camera. Just enjoy the flying and am not much of a photographer to begin with. I sure enjoy it, but had a very steep learning curve when I first got it. Therefore I offer the next paragraph. You may already know this stuff, but it is only a short paragraph. ;^)

Ideas? Keep reading here. Read the manual. If you have not done so, you can download it from Phantom 2 - The Spirit Of Flight
Scroll down and you will see where you can download what you need. If you have not already done so, also download the RC Assistant and the P2 Assistant as you will use these for calibrations. The manual is good, but if you don't understand how to do something, go onto youtube as there are a bunch of good videos on how to calibrate, first flights, and tips and tricks. Feel free to ask questions too.

Also, take your time and enjoy the ride! Congratulations on your P2.

Hi Epic,

That's awesome to see you getting your first Phantom. I'm a P2 beginner too! I got mine about two months ago and have been loving it. My recommendation would be to be sure you pay attention to the LED flashes on the drone. I'm colourblind so have to really concentrate when working out if the drone is ready to fly or not but so far I've had no problems. I've had one drone or another for the last few years but my P2 is my first "proper" drone that I would be truly sad to crash. Something I've noticed is that in comparison to my Syma X5, the P2 is almost impossible to fly badly. The GPS positioning means it pretty much stays in the same spot if you take your hands off the controls. In comparison, my Syma required constant concentration and alteration to make sure it didn't drift off and away from me.

The reason why I'm saying this is that you will probably find the P2 very easy to fly because it's pretty smart. By the look of it you've got a Xiaomi Yi camera on there too which is the same as what I've got (only mine's black). Something I do feel about the P2 is that I probably wouldn't fly it without a camera as it feels more like a platform from which to take pictures, than a bird to enjoy for the sake of flying. Lots of people my disagree with me but I really enjoy flying super low and weaving in and out of whatever I can with my Syma, and I simply wouldn't dare try that kind of thing with my P2.

Let us know how you get on!
