What was your first introduction to the world of remote control? Someone brought up U Control planes in another thread which brought back a flood of memories. For you youngsters, a u control plane was a model plane powered by a gas engine. The plane was tethered to the flyer via 2 lines going to a handle. Positioning the handle caused the elevators to go up and down. You would turn in circles tracking the airplane making it take off, ascend, descend, and land. The more advanced plans could do loops.

My first u control was from Testors and featured the ever mass produced .049 engine. You would attach a battery to the glow plug, prime a little fuel, and spin the prop with your fingers (some models had a spring). Great fun and a great way to slice your fingers! And you could purchase it any any toy store!
