Firmware Update

Hi all
I keep getting this update required notice, tried updating but it still remains, aircraft & controller did seem to update though

Apologies if I'm missing something simple, still a novice

Which versions do you see listed in the "General Settings" --> "About" section of DJI GO?

It's says App version 3.1.0

How about the firmware versions? You'll need to connect your Phantom to DJI GO in order to see those versions.

Its my mistake I've just reconnected it & status has changed to normal, aircraft is 1.9.60

I purchased my P3P in July 2015. I updated the firmware at that time, to 1.2.6. I have been flying almost weakly since then, with that version. No problems. Questions:
1--Must firmware be updated in steps (as it did on my old P1) or, can I just install the current update from DJI.com?
2--What am I missing with the old firmware? Anything really important? (I hesitate to update when everything is working well)

You should update your firmware like this.

You can find the Phantom and RC release notes on the Phantom downloads page. They include the major changes for each firmware release.
