Display options and the controller

Don't think the DJI Go app can display in portrait view, so you'll be looking at sidewards video. Unless you have a custom rom on your K1 that can force apps into a certain orientation.

No, it does display in portrait mode. Sometimes I have to move it around a lot to get it in widescreen mode.

Edit: I stand corrected. While the K1 does have portrait mode, the DJI Go App doesn't.
