lol sorry for the click baity title. One of my friends with a drone was contacted by the city to record traffic so they can assess the problem and resolve the traffic. He has taken the 107 test and has his license (I haven't yet). So I guess my question is how did they find. My dad said (this is actually a friend of my dad) he was on some kind of list and says I should try to get on it to. so has this "list" been herd of before, what is it?

I believe the FAA has a registry where you or a company can find info about pilots in your area.

Yes the Part 107 certificate holders list is public knowledge unless you filled out the form sent by the FAA to withhold your info from the list. You get this approx. 1-2 weeks after you receive your license in the mail from the FAA (that's when I received mine anyway). His name may have also been found through social media if he had public posts such as Facebook or Youtube.
