Anti Glare screens for tablets...

I have a Nexus 7 2012 and even with a good sized hood on it, I can't see a damned thing on the screen on a bright day. I'm looking at anti-glare screen protectors. Does anyone have one? If so... does it do any good?

I tried a anti glare on the Nexus 7 and it was rubbish so took it off, still searching for a remedy that doesn't involve a 2' box to peer down...
