    So I ended up resetting my phone to default settings and it now works. I wish I had the silver bullet answer I just didn't feel like troubleshooting this for hours, some setting in there somewhere. At least it's some sort of answer anyhow. Thank you. ~

    I ended up sending this unit it back after giving it a thoroughly solid attempt at troubleshooting. I received it's replacement today and it is amazing.

    So using the DJI assistant 2 I downgraded to I believe 1.01.03 (think that's what it was...) and also tried 1.01.04 (once again this is from memory, there are only three firmware patches available...) and no luck. Any ideas? Thank you ~
