Joined AMA also. Certainly isn't a get out of jail free card but illustrates you're trying to do things the right way.

Had a park ranger (not a national park) come up to me while flying in one of my fav spots. Very nice but very curious. Showed him everything I do to prepare, safety checks, calibrations etc. Told him about FAA restrictions, what's cool to do, what's not. Showed him my AMA card for insurance in case heavens forbid "something" happened. Now we're on a first name basis when he sees me! Told me, "If you ever have any trouble with anyone...you let me know!" Wow. Pays to be patient and courteous.

Yes.................... every new Phantom pilot, or any other "drone" pilot, must really piss off the media who tries relentlessly to portray them as evil.
