Remote camera shutter release & gimbal control

Hi, looking at a Phantom for photography, but wondering how people control a camera? GoPro with the wi-fi app would seem perfect - remote viewfinder and ability to take shots, but apparently there's advice in the manual NOT to use it?

Any other options for getting high qualilty stills?

From some other reading, you can directly plug a gimbal into the Naza and get roll stabilisation out of the box. Can you also get pitch stabilisation the same way?

witch cam you want to use ?
if it is a go pro - go to timelapse mode an shoot pix after all 5 sek.

-yes.. you can get a 2-axis gimbal that will stabilize pitch and roll when connected to the NAZA But if you have a budget, you might want to wait for DJI to make their 2 axis brushless gimbal available.

-the GoPro Black has a time-lapse feature that will take high resolution stills at varying rates.
- some other point and shoots have time lapse features,. and some people have hacked Canon S100's to do so.
-the GoPro also has a feature that allows you to shoot video AND stills at the same time.
-and lastly, the GoPro3 Black can shoot 4k video, which you can then grab fairly high resolution stills from

There is the potential for interference but it has not been proven and indeed I flew a number of flights at range without issue. But the WiFi is so weak that it is pretty much useless for controlling the camera more than a 20' away from you.

Any other options for getting high qualilty stills?

As mentioned, the GoPro cameras can be set to take pictures every n seconds. That works pretty good.
