Recently Lost my drone to the sea....Or Murdered?

What you may be talking about would be "vortex ring state". That looks like what dgd3's aircraft may have experiencing. Yeah it's like being pulled down by the loss of lift settling in your own disturbed rotorwash. You might also see it referred to as "settling with power".

The worse thing one can do is increase throttle as that aggravates the situation, destroying even more lift producing area of the rotors. The exit from the condition is simple, given you have enough altitude. Just fall away from it while reducing power. Fall off to either side or just move forward out of the disturbed air. Quickest path into clean air is upwind. Say for example, if you are heading north and you have a west wind, you experience VRS, reduce throttle and move to the left or into the wind. Once it's stabilized, resume normal navigation.

Most videos of the DJIs in vortex ring state are showing the rotor guards and I don't wonder if the presence of the guards delay the return of lift producing clean air over the rotors. Also, with the camera equipment on them, does anyone know how close to max gross weight the aircraft are operating at? That too reduces your margin of error.
