my guess is protection in case of a crash. Im a very new owner and have crashed twice, personally im thinking that a cover would protect the led from damage in another accident. another thot would be that it may protect from maoisture,dust,and dirt that might get in the bird over time... not that im an expert by any means just what my thot process would be
