Nexus 6P and Airplane Mode

I'm sure it's already been posted here somewhere but I just got the p3 Standard drone and couldn't get the app to connect with the drone. After a bunch of digging online I found that I needed my phone in airplane mode to get the connection to work. Something about the newest Android version causing trouble. Once I enabled airplane mode and connected to the drone wifi everything worked great. Haven't put the bird up in the air yet but plan on a maiden voyage this weekend.
