I would really appreciate a link to such a setup.

Are they all limited to Line Of Sight? I've got hills and trees to contend with.

Thanks

UPDATE: Thank you Flying High :D

This is a directional tracking antenna which will increase your fpv range considerably.

I take it there is not... :(

It depends on what you're willing to pay for.
Lightbridge will extend the range to several miles. Not sure on max though.
You may want to consider the DJI ground station.
Also check youtube. There are videos of long distance flights 3 miles and more.

The real question is, can you fly the 3 miles and return safely before the battery dies?

With ground station app, you can plot out a course with waypoints.
It will show you the total distance covered and the amount of time it takes.
When you're satisfied with the course, hit the go button and watch it do it's thing.

Thanks Suwaneeguy,

I just looked at Lightbridge and they only claim to reach 1,300 feet.

I'm in search of something that will fly for an hour. I already know I am pushing the envelope, but someone has to. If the bird doesn't make it back I can go fetch it. It's a really big ranch. Hopefully a cow won't step on it.

A DJI Ground station is definitely on my shopping list.

Many others have and are trying to push that very envelope, but to get flight times even just over 30 minutes you'll need to build a specialized rig from the ground up, and based on what's been achieved so far it'll need VERY long arms and VERY big props and a VERY big 6S battery...and almost nothing else on the airframe. Those kinds of flight times will be in the reach of those of us without full R&D department budgets soon, but there's still practical limits to battery energy density and other factors with currently-available tech.

Here's a good recent example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxq4O9f ... pLefdEloEQ

Thank you for the link.

I've seen a number of his creations. They are very big.
He said he could not meet my specs at this point.

I'm sure someone can.
