Has anyone considered if it is possible to swap out the 5.8 radio on the Phantom 1 for the Phantom 2.4GHz radio? This would upgrade the Phantom 1 to work with the new Phantom 2 transmitter plus you could control the GoPro with your Andriod or iPhone with the GoPro app on 2.4 without interference.
That is what is done on the FC-40. It has the equivalent of a P2V receiver. However, the GoPro wifi app is not dependable to use for FPV or even framing shots much further than you could throw it by hand.
I have a FC40 with H3-2D and I just set the tilt for the altitude I anticipate flying to frame the scenery I want to shoot. Then the GoPro is set to video at 1089/30fps with still shot every 5 seconds.
You could go 1.2 ghz, 900 MHz or 430 MHz with a video downlink, receiver and FPV monitor, or go up to 5.8 ghz FVP. The lower frequencies may require a Ham Radio license, so the 5.8 route for video seems to be the most popular compromise.
