That was one of my efforts to add flotation to the Phantom. I was able to land and take off from the water. I tried many other systems. The problems with all of these are:Getterback
This cheap and simple device will help you recover your Phantom if it happens to take a swim in a lake, ocean, pool or any other body of water. Check out some details:
Setup
Just attach the Getter Back to the leg of your Phantom with the included velcro, then you are good to go.
Activation
When the Getter Back reaches a depth of 10 feet or less, it will automatically deploy the bobber. When the easily spotted bobber reaches the surface, you simply grab the bobber and pull up the line until your Phantom appears.
OR USE THIS, REDNECK WATER BOTTLES !!
1. Anything with enough volume to float the Phantom, will add weight, act like a sail in the wind, block air flow from the props, and likely be visible to the camera.
2. In a water crash, like buttered bread, the Phantom will probably land buttered side down, so these devices will not save it from damage, only aid in recovery.
I eventually decided to build my own waterproof floating quad.
