I strongly recommend this device. The USBC bracket connection hugely reduces video latency (as you get on 3rd party phones and tablets ), the Android OS is "protected" from auto / external updates that can end up upsetting the smooth running of your transmission or Go 4 App, the screen is fantastic - bright, everything visible (even outside on a sunny day), and is very well made. battery life is also exceptional and you can hot swap the battery with a spare too (and the 7.85" model comes with 2 batteries anyway - perfect). You can add 2 sd cards for added memory, on top of the 64gig on board memory, and I love the bank of buttons on the right of the screen to access settings, set custom functions, etc. Brilliant accessory, love it - but not cheap at all! Still, gets rid of cumbersome hoods and non-dedicated screens prone to OS or app crashes

Have you had any problems since you got your ultra bright?
I'm a little apprehensive with purchasing the 7.85 ultra bright with all the problems I've read about.

I sent mine back and B&H Was Very helpful.

Net they are prone to overheating and or just burning out. It seems that DJI knows this as the high bright is out of stock everywhere.

IMO Crystalsky needs more work. Period.

On my P4 video lockup or freeze very common. Enough that I quit using it. On Mavic I get pixelization mainly on pans. But it also locks up at times.

I still have the standard brightness and these issues occur with it.

I love the monitor and extra nits in brightness but DJI should do more front end work on the software. Djifo4 on the CS is unique to the CS and DJI has admitted they are as much as 2 releases behind vs rhe normal Android version.

Way too much money even for the standard brightness monitor for these types of issues.

My standard brightness is 2 months old and on a white background it’s showing signs of screen burn it at all for edges.

Wonder if there are any problems with the 5.85, and if there is the same problems with the larger screen High brightness?

From other posts both 5.85 and 7.85 seem to have similar issues.

I've heard of and seen unreliability of the Ultra bright 2000 nits version that really put me off buying one, especially given the near $1000 price tag (£900+ in the UK). After some phone calls around to a number of drone repair specialists and DJI drone user groups, I got the impression that the 1000 nits version (the Hi-bright version) was more than enough. And, to be honest, it is; the 2000 nits version is probably overkill in most situations, and you save a good $250 getting the Hi bright instead of the Ultra bright. My advice: don't risk it, get the Hi bright: you'll find it is more than sufficient.

How long have you had yours?
Have you had any glitches?

Not one single crash or disconnect from the aircraft DOC 1500, no. Given the tablet and phone experiences I've had previously , it is my new favourite accessory, especially as the external batteries last an entire day at full brightness levels. The Hi bright is more than sufficient , you'll see all you need to see on screen even in direct sunlight and you'll save yourself a good deal of money over the Ultrabright version . The High bright is a great compromise and very stable, certainly I've not had a single issue with mine. Very pleased with it

Oh - forgot to say: several months (early 2018)

Did you get it at a local store or online?
I just wonder if it's a new production line fixed.

I have a 5.85 on my Mavic - it has been flawless for the past six months.

That tempted me to get a pair of ultra bright 7 inchers. Not so flawless. First unit would not accept commands from the touch screen. Reinstalling the operating system tended to help - briefly.

The replacement unit works. Mostly. The touch screen is VERY slow. It forgets it's connected to a P3 and wants to talk to an Inspire (Beneath it's station, perhaps?). I have to connect the controller to an iPad, connect to the P3 and then hook up the Crystal Sky.

When it works, it's quite nice. I've never been able to get the second one to work. Period. It boots and doesn't want to do much else. Sent it back and now, as you mentioned, they're all on backorder. Canceled the order and will just continue to use my secondary 1000 nit external monitor.

For all it's obvious acumen, DJI really manages to screw up product launches. They'll probably get it right, eventually. And they seem to be standing behind their warranties. But it IS annoying to be a fully paid beta tester.

Seems like emulating Apple wasn't perhaps the best of strategic plans. Thanking His Noodliness that DJI hasn't taken to going into full on anorexic mode like Johnny Ive's latest creations.

The "Hi-brightness" models from what I can tell work well according to most people I have seen/ talked to. The "ultra-bright" appears to be the one with the issues. Someone I know lost half the screen's brightness while the other half remained bright, which was odd. Others seem to have either overheating or functionality issues. Think you might be right: "chuck in the new experimental screen into the Hi-brightness case, and sell it at a significant premium" - but I wonder just how well they have tested and quality assured it frankly

Bought mine online mate. Actually bought from a store at first, but the USBC bracket was duff, so I sent it back and replaced it via a different company online. London Camera Exchange I think it was

I'm not going to buy any Crystal Sky until they fix it. I don't need it that bad.
It's all a bunch of DJI BS.
