Sad thing about the news business is the adage, "If it bleeds, it leads" seems to be the case here.

Apparently this man/boy was no newbie. I understand he flew for Align.

A buddy of mine is a member at the flying club where this happened.

Looking at his Youtube page, he also flew Quad Copters

I mean no disrespect...but GOOD GAWD!!!
Seems reckless no matter how much skill it takes. Can you imagine the stresses put on the blades, frame, craft and electronics.
Makes our crafts look like wooden tops!

The young man's father is president of the helicopter club as well.

I used to fly at that club in the late 90's. His dad was the president then also. I believe he started the club.

Man, super tragic no matter how you look at it. As a father I can't imagine something like this.

Was he flying 3D. That's some high risk flying.

Saw some last week from behind a tree.

If it was one of those copters like in the photo, I can see how it would kill someone. I can't see the Phantom being that dangerous, even with carbon fiber props. My condolences go out to his parents and family.

The Video that was posted from his YouTube page is like a Buzz Saw flying rampant in the air... Maybe that sort of sport needs protective gear... like a helmet... Seems very extreme and dangerous. Does take a lot of skill to do that sort of flying though... He was good... What a shame... RIP...

Sorry for the loss of life however a 19-year old is not a boy; we have plenty of 18 and 19 year old in the military.

Brings reality upfront to be EXTREMELY careful even with the Phantoms!

Sad story for any young person's death. God Bless the kid as he's flying in Heaven!
