This just came up for discussion in one of the rocketry forums I visit. A company called Eureka Products is selling a pet tracker that uses a Radio Direction Finding system:

It costs about $200 with one "tag." The transmitter works at 900MHz and a Phantom helicopter is depicted on the site as an example of it being used for other purposes than tracking pets.
According to the poster in the rocketry forum, the owner of the company answered his questions personally and sold him a modified version of the tracker that weighs a little less than the standardusing it.one. The poster has received his system. I'll let you know what he says about
