Antenna position

I just received my upgraded circular polarized antennas, but the transmitter antenna is straight rather than with a 90 degree adaptor.

Question is whether it's crucial to have this antenna positioned toward the ground or not.

Best position always is parallel due to "donut shape" of the antennas signal difussion. Suggets to get the 90 degree SMA adapter.
