Okay i seen a few videos on YouTube people changing the controllers antenna. Has anybody done this mod? What are the pros and cons?

Also what's the name of the wire that I need to order? I think I have found the correct aerial, can anybody confirm if that is the correct one. In the link provided it's says omni indoor aerial, would this be okay?

If you buy that antenna you'll need

RP-SMA Male to UFL cable ( 6-8 inches )
Buy better quality cable, don't go cheap on this
As the cheap ones fail sometimes!

Edit: I use a 6dbi indoor antenna, works fine. This should
Work well for you!

Ps: take your time, doing the mod, these are small parts,
And can be damaged easily! ( so can the board they plug to )

Honestly,
Unless you upgrade fpv first, it is useless!
But yes big difference!

The problem is you lose fpv first, and if you are out of line of sight,
Range is useless! Without FPV!

But can't hurt, at the same time!

Your call, have you tried the foil mod?
Check out YouTube for it! It is a antenna wrap
Made from aluminum foil & cardboard, makes a big difference!
And it's free or close to free !

My fpv is pretty decent when in line of sight.. Yes I have seen the foil and card, are you referring to the WindSurfer? problem with that is I don't like the look of it and my screen is mounted to the controller, so it might get in the way.
I rather have a fixed permanent solution,I might give it a go! Not sure yet!

Yes,
That was the one, I agree with you, kinda dumb
Looking, but people say it works! To be honest,
Moding it was the FUN PART! I like tinkering,
Building and experimenting with stuff! Plus you learn
A LOT doing stuff like that!

I have my complete bird apart right now, doing GPS antenna mod,
Copper GPS mod, adding a 2axis gimbal, just upgraded to anti-static
compass, flytrex2 core, fiber-optic mod,
Then my tx
I'm doing slow yaw, slow pitch mods. The one where I can do normal
speed, or 1/3 speed, mostly for video stuff.

I have a older P2V.
Bad weather= good Mod day...lol

Take care, Fly safe!

Fiber-optic mod:
I'm doing mine a bit different than this,
But you'll get the idea. I can't see the lights
During bright sunshine, this will help with that,
As well as compass cal!

Take care,
