Oso:
Must be my age giving me memory problems, as I was sure the lights were green after power up. However, on the third attempt at connecting to the drone all appears OK and the RC battery is 100% charged.
Waylander:
The charger does have 2 cables. But the board with the 3 pole jacks which contains the 3 red lights number reader is not used for charging the RC and so I have no means of reading the VDC ( presuming that number reader is what you mean for reading a VDC).

Without going into great detail, I have had Heart surgery twice which meant I have not even looked at my drone for the last 6 months.
Yesterday on preparing to take it out, my remote control 4 white lights came on briefly and then all went out. I put it on charge for around 3 hours and...
Thanks PhantomFandom. I do feel a bit of a dope because I should have realised the camera should work without the motors running, but then by asking I have found out about a possible gimbal circuitry issue.
Also thanks to JMFinch.
Thanks for those answers:
I know the camera works without props, but as there is no downward wind which I'm presuming may be required to cool the motors, does anyone know for definite if long term running without props does cause damage to the motors.
I have used it as a hand held (with props)...
As the Phantom has a gimbal I'm thinking there are occasions when I could use it as a hand held camera. However, would the motors burn out if the props are not connected?
I could attach the tablet to the landing gear and just have the RC clipped to my waist, or perhaps someone may have other...
I can't fathom out why my simple Litchi mission just will not start on my P3A and in theory this link lets you look at it: Mission Hub - Litchi
I'm not using DJI GO and so power up the drone using Litchi. I have tried manually getting the drone to waypoint 1 which is probably about 100 feet...
I have never read of one single case that could fall into the "seemingly innocent or innocuous cases" category which resulted in a prosecution and would be interested to see a link or links to these cases.
Even though you have open fields presumably to the rear of your house, I would guess your living in a normal residential area where you have houses across the road from the front of your house and extending to other houses on the same side of the road as yours. If so I would say your not flying...
The UK uses the term Secretary of State for a number of Government Department Heads and Greenwich Park comes under the jurisdiction of The Royal Parks Management and drones are not allowed.
If you do that you will be breaking every UK Drone Code and I'm led to believe there are signs saying you can't fly drones in 'Greenwich Park' which read:
"The flying of drones or model aircraft in the park is prohibited. By order of the Secretary of State."
