When you say gimbal guard are you referring to the plastic clip that attaches to the gimbal to protect it while transporting the machine? If so that should always be removed prior to powering up your drone.
First off I have Single shot, multiple, AEB, Timed and Pano once all is up and running.
When I just had the controller on I get HDR Shot and lose Pano but keep single, multiple, AEB and Timed. Once I turn on the Phantom and it connects with the controller Pano comes back and HDR goes away...

Did you take both gamnle locks off? There is a small foam block along with the plastic clip. Did you download the DJIgo app on to tablet? I cant remember but that may be where you register your account.
I had the same pro lem with my P4P a d tried all the different calibrations with no success. I called DJI and they had me send it in. I have no idea what they did but it works now. The tech didnt put any info in the repair log.
