My friends and I do most of our flying (science projects) outside of cell phone range. We all use the Marco Polo tracker, less than 40 grams, very long battery life.
Rather than a limitation I want to point out that the Marco Polo has remarkable battery life. I charge mine every week or two, depending on how often it is used. I also have the pet unit (pet tracking was the MP's original purpose) and have found it very helpful to practice locating my...
I fly a P3Pro in areas of mixed forest and small open fields. I can easily spot elk and bears in open areas but smaller animals are very hard to distinguish. I suggest that instead of a drone you invest in the Marco Polo pet tracker, a very small radio device with excellent battery life. I...
As suggested here I have been using Litchi since it was first released instead of DJI firmware. I also have 2 back-up quads with 9 batteries, 3DR SOLOs. They don't have the range and flight time of my P3P but they are as reliable as a Toyota Tacoma pickup when you have a job to do.
At some...
I haven't flown my P3 Pro for about a year. After upgrading the firmware today I'm in the same situation as the OP -- the video feed is so bad that it is literally useless. I'll try the suggestions above but as I've also been away from the forums I wonder if this is a widespread issue or just...
I'm unable to find replacement props for my original Phantom 1. I'm flying heavily loaded and the clone props are too flexible and too fragile. Can anyone tell me where the DJI 9443 props are still available?
If worse comes to worse and these props are no longer available, I'm wondering...
I just discovered that I have no spare props -- busted one in a crash and was lucky to have a matching replacement but now I can't find authentic DJI 9443 non-self-tightening props. Out of stock and $20 a pair at Atlanta Hobby -- ouch!
Does anyone know of a source for these -- but not clones...
I'm using a tilt bracket from Mortar Art with a Canon S100, running CHDK and the UAV KAP script so that the camera fires a shot every 2 seconds. So far it works quite well.
When you use this set up to discharge a battery, how do you monitor the battery state? I discharge my batteries using a 12 volt halogen bulb on a lead that is soldered to the battery connector.
Re: Video: Fitted my Phantom v1 into a Phantom 2 shell (easy
Please, Dewey.... patronize me to the max! Turn the battery on? Who would ever think a battery had to be turned on? Certainly not me....
Turned the battery on according to your instructions: let there be light! And there is a...
"Hey I can sometimes get very passionate about my hobby. Perhaps I came on too strongly above."
Not too strong at all -- in fact, I've been circling around the idea of switching to a Taranis after hearing similar comments from other pilots. I do like my Futaba T8J but as I gain more RC...
Re: Video: Fitted my Phantom v1 into a Phantom 2 shell (easy
Wet weather has kept my P1.5 grounded too long and I'm worried about keeping the P2 batteries at a full charge. Today I wired up a 12 volt halogen bulb to a P2 charging plug with the idea of discharging the battery to a storage...
