I ordered an H3-2D for my phantom 1.1.1 from china, I received an H3-2d for a phantom 2. After weeks of emails I am about to give up hope of getting a replacement or refund.
In the box was the gimbal and hardware, no cables at all.
I am exploring the possibility of adapting to fit on the Phantom 1.1.1
I know I would have to purchase a GCU and relevant cables.
my question is are there any difference between the two Gimbals other than conection interface.

Hardware is the same, the difference is what is in the box.

You can buy the extra install parts separate. But why should you have to? Who did you order it from? link?

+1 - Gimbal itself is the same, just the mount that differs and the lack of GCU.

You can make it work on your v1.1.1 with just an upgrade board which comes with the cables you need. Yes you 'could' buy the GCU but its about the same cost on its own as the upgrade board and you'll also need a PMUv2 to get the can bus connection required (this doubles the cost). This combination is heavier, more expensive and a really tight fit.

The only down side to the upgrade board route is that you don't have a ready made CAN-BUS port but never fear... you can solder your own using the Sarawuth method as per my videos here:
