He's lucky all he got was a letter! It appears, at least from the story, that he handled the situation correctly.

So what were the complaints about that video? He didn't crash. Actually, the footage was pretty good! I haven't looked at an aviation chart yet, but I didn't see one in the video.

Flying inside https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controlled_airspace without adhering to the requirements for being allowed to?

I don't understand why they linked to that video. The story claimed the Phantom got to 4,200 feet and the houses looked like "specks on the ground". This video clearly was not the one mentioned in the story.

Or the reporter is full of baloney.

What kind of upgrades do you have to do to the phantom to make it go 4200'? LOL

I'm the imbecile. No idea why CBS Atlanta linked to the wrong video. This is the video that caused the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5en716JIYn4

    .
In this video, I went to 3,600. I have made it 4,000+. Zero mods, just a Futaba 14SG radio and a full battery.

So what was all the outrage about?? Was this near an airport or something??? Or were they just outraged at the altitude? The people need to watch some of the videos on YouTube when they launch a 8' balloon with an r/c airplane attached and have it land 30km off course. The media really needs to get their **** together with this stuff.

Busted the Class C airspace so yes, it was near an airport. Was it a stone's throw? No. But it did violate FCC regulations.
