Wrong Kind of Snow

Just flew at night, trying to see some neighborhood Christmas lights. From the beginning the screen (shooting a dark forest) was covered with "snow". When I arrived above a home with lights, a snow-less trail formed. The attached screenshot shows this.

The trail slowly covered itself with snow after about 10 seconds.

I came home, watched the video. Went back outside and shot some more but was not able to replicate the problem.

Ideas as to what happened?

I commonly get snow at night, especially at higher ASA settings. I have found keeping the ASA locked at 100 results in no snow. No matter what you do, the P2V+ camera is not a good low light platform.

pic above looks exactly like what I got tonight when I tried to capture the neighborhood christmas lights. Stills are fine but the video is useless

I posted the still from the video because in 30+ night flights, I had never seen such a thing, even at lower temps.

Someone will come up with an answer.
