    Not to worry. That's not going to be an option for P3's. If you see it anywhere other than Inspires it will be on the P5.

    Oh, lots of people would buy them but DJI doesn't want to sell an upgrade for an old platform. They want you to buy a *new* platform. The camera is precisely the reason that a lot of P3 owners did not upgrade to the P4. Sure it has a couple of nice features, but no 'killer app'. An optical zoom would be a killer app.

    I still think they will leave them on the high end machines like the mythical Inspire 2.

    Yeah, having a zoom lens on a consumer drone could well be a marketing nightmare. Which may be why we haven't seen this. Also, it would be considerably harder to fly / easy to crash. DJI has to walk a pretty fine line with consumer class drones. You never know who has a spare $1000.
