Worth upgrading to higher gain omni on transmitter?

Just wondering if it's worth the effort to upgrade the stock antenna to one with higher gain? And I'm talking about an omnidirectional antenna. I'd like the ability to just fly and not worry about having to keep the transmitter aimed at the phantom. Thanks in advance.

I responded to this but my post is gone? I can't remember what I had said, but something like "I modded my controller antenna and really like it. I wish I had objectively tested the controller distance with the stock antenna, but didn't think to do that. I did go out to 1400 meters today before a tree jumped in the way causing a RTH. "

What kind of antenna did you go with?
