Or am I completely wasting my time and making a fool of myself into the bargain?

Haven't had a chance to test it due to work but do any of the RF cars on this board think this will help in any way?

Try it and see, but a better solution would to buy a used Kindle Fire or an Android tablet that has better wifi reception.

Yeah I have a Galaxy Tab which got me out to 700 feet last week. I was just wanting to try to improve the TP Link extender which I've not used for FPV yet as the Galaxy tab is already pretty much good enough.

If I've wasted my time, that's fine, be a nice bonus if the cardboard and foil added something to the TP Link though.

It might help some. being parabolic reflectors do work pretty good with regular antennas if you get the focal point just right.
