Who else is thinking about filming Fireworks this 4th?

Ya it should be a blast... Hoping for good weather.
Wondering if I should go "in" to where all the action is... i have seen some crazy videos people have posted where the fireworks fly past the bird

Looks like perfect weather in Chicago area with 5mph winds tomorrow....

I'll be trying over the ocean in Southern California tomorrow night.....wish me luck!

Last Saturday evening I hastily filmed our little hometown fireworks display. I didn't fly very close but this will give you an idea of how the camera handles fireworks.

Filmed in 720/60FPS and posted in 1/2 speed.

Yeah, totally agree that looked cool

Thanks. I'm going to find a display this weekend and try to get closer. I just wish I was better at tweaking the camera settings for the environment.

I wonder if turning up the ISO to the highest setting would help make the picture look brighter.

I was going to film the fireworks here in Newport Beach, but I crashed my + on Wed. Sold it for $800 and have a new one on the way. I'm going to be much more careful with this new one.

From someone who actually does displays I love the way the light just illuminates everything around, it looks great !

:D

Very nice. You must have had some very smooth air. Very stable.

Awesome vid, but sure looks like it could be a quick death for the bird.

I saw that video as well. Incredible kamikaze footage but I'm wondering if the flying smaller sparks (not the main projectile) has the ability to knock bird out if the air (or is it like flying sparks that bounce off like sparklers on your hand)...
...either way I won't be going in that close unless I want my bird to come out cooked turkey :p

Wow! That video is incredible. Not sure if I want to risk my bird but the video would be so incredible.

Hmmm....this is when I wish the Phantom had a Stealth Mode to turn off the lights remotely.

Here's our local fireworks event... you can see at least 3 other surrounding cities with their own show as well in the background

I missed filming the finale because too many people were asking me "how much does this cost, where can I buy, do you work for the company, can i take a photo of it" etc etc while I was swapping batteries...oh well.

First night flight, which was fun, but the video doesn't do too well with low light using auto settings...

Nothing wrong with that I thought. As I mentioned in another thread the stability of the picture is uncanny. Well done.
