Where the heck is the setting for...

Yeah, I've seen that. Thanks. It's not as detailed regarding the GO app, as would like. Specially DJI themselves should have available.
Agreed but something beats nothing any day. I honestly don't think DJI will ever spend the time to make a manual that is significant. They will leave that all to the forums.

And just why. The rear leds if functioning are are always on. Flying at night is only for the well experienced. If you are asking questions about A " Night Mode" you do not need to be flying period.

WOW all that over some one calling the function to turn off the front red leds when shooting pics at night being called night mode by some one. Thats a bit extream. esp considering that no matter what the feature is called its exactly what it is or more so a night shooting mode. So you dont get the red leds in your videos or pics.

if you really want to go into night mode tape off 90% of the rear lights with painters tape. But of course I would never do that.

Hahahaha. The cousin of a friend of a guy I know told me you could......

If you can't take a smudge of humor or some real advice then yes . Sorry for making you so upset. I keep forgetting that there are young kids here.
I was not upset nor am I a kid. I was just giving him a "hard time" for making such a stupid comment. BTW, comments like that are to 99% not meant to be humorous...

Actually on the DJI forums, they've said they were in the process of making one and should be out with the next version of the app. But I think that was prior to the last release, so nothing still.

Perhaps a comprehensive user/owner manual, will be part of the package, when the Phantom X gets released...likely in June 2016
My sources confirm, that this new @dji model, named Phantom X, will fly faster, closer to 60mph, and it's supposed to have object avoidance software built in. Should be rather awesome, for those who actually buy one... I will not. As I have just turned the corner in a new and exciting direction. With an amazing Heli-Max Voltage 500 3D.
But I wish those customers, an awesome experience, with the X.
It should be a lot of fun... ;-)

... meantime, DJI spends time, effort, and money to produce very amusing but not much useful short cartoon movies explaining in very simple terms some simpler aspects of drone operation and app functionality. There must be a market for that somewhere ... hmmm???

Is that with or without constabe escort? ;-)

The iOS always had the same PDF version that is on the website.
Doesn't it get amended with each subsequent firmware/app update?
Why worry about a manual? ;-) few who reads them it seems anyway.

Eh, how about that new Muse album Drones , cover? ;-)
It may need one though... Hehe

I believe flying at night would be easier than daytime. A bright Flight screen and led's that would stand out quite well.

No in reality it's Not easier, to navigate after the bright Sun star sets for the night, but actually equally as challenging and can seem like it's way more fun... Even with them LED diodes glowing, you still need to keep an open eye for it. Be aware as well, of the red directional flight arrow on the screen. It can keep you orientated and travelling in the proper direction. If you ever do lose sight of it, simply follow the course line on the map, to bring her back.
As long as you keep the Phantom 3 at a good height, you can see the four separate LED diodes glowing, for a very long distance against the coal black dark night sky. Perhaps we are more visually able to keep our orientation correct then as well, as the green and red diodes are significantly easier to distinguish in the darkest night.

Really have to agree. I've only flown three times after dark, and depth perception is really poor, and orientation is next to impossible at higher altitude or
descent distance. Thinking your P3 is over head at 200 ft, look at the map and it's 50-60 ft head of you. Turn off the Front Arm Lights, and you can lose
orientation real fast.
IF anyone tries a night flight, do several day flights flying by the DJI Go map. Scope out the area during the day, and KNOW the highest obstacle, set your RTH
altitude higher, then only go below it to land. A cocky night flight is probably the easiest way to smack up a UAV, next to hitting it with a sledgehammer.
My last two night flights were 'instrument flights'. Wifey was a spotter. Using the Go App map to navigate. Flew over the Gulf of Mexico... It was a lot of fun.

Hi guys,
just came across this site. Good job Adam..... let see where this will take us.
I fly currently a F 450 as well as F 550. Thinking of maybe buying the phantom. Looks good and very compact, therefore easy
to take with me when I travel thoughout the US :)

Not really a fan of the go pro.... prefer the intova cameras cheapter and easier to use. I even wired them so that I can remote tigger them via my transmitter..... switchng between video and stills.

Will do more posts on here, will travel to europe next week let's see if i can get one before then.
Very good post and information RedHot! !

Hey, eh, ay, hahaha. Glad you're enjoying the forum and all the most informative & fun posts. By the way, for those of you us, who live in suburbia... While flying at night, it's also a good idea to keep your eyes and ears peeled for the helicopter with the brightest blinking Red light! ;-)

It's a dead giveaway... Hahaha
