Hey fellow Phantom pilots, can someone recommend a great "free" app for compiling videos & adding music?

I agree. If you want free then davinci resolve is the best choice. Blackmagic Design: DaVinci Resolve 12 you're getting a pro level package for free, with the only restriction being max 1080 exports and some other things which are unlikely to be a big deal for a non-pro user. There was a time when people looked to resolve as mainly a color grading tool - which is still it's forte - but the editor is now so good that it's a very credible alternative to something like final cut. Here's a pretty decent collection of training resources: DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Tutorial Round Up. Good luck...!

filmora is the best to use and you can get it for free (using key codes to unlock it) but if you don't want to do that then moviemaker is simple enough but does have a tendancy to crash

The GoPro app, don't recall the exact name, is pretty good if you just want to cut, move clips around and add music. Resolve is pretty much a full feature editor, about 80% of Premier Pro / Avid and about 90% of Final Cut. Hard to beat the price and has an involved community.
