No DJI don't steal your precious flight data during a firmware update.
Yes, I have checked out the disclaimer and it's just like lots of disclaimers that cover all sorts of bases.
If you really have a good reason to keep your flight data to yourself, that's fine and you don't have to share it with anyone.
I'd be surprised if
@msinger shares flight data with anyone that uploads to
DJI Flight Log Viewer
But having seen flight data from lots of people's flights, I really can's see there being anything of any use to anyone in the flight data or anything you would need to keep secret.
data from a typical flight shows where and when you took off, flew and landed.
It contains GPS data showing the Phantom's location throughout the flight and data from the sensors - speed, direction GPS count, battery etc.
Nothing particularly embarrassing or sensitive but lots of very useful data if you lose a Phantom and want to find out what happened to it and where it might have ended up.
The Phantom has an internal flight data recorder too that DJI can use to assess warranty claims.
It contains the same data plus more detail of motor speed data etc.
Perhaps DJI encrypt it to protect the integrity of the data that can be used for warranty claims.
I can't think of any reason to be concerned about that.
And if you really want to keep your flight data secret for your own reasons ... you don't have to share it with anyone.
