What gimbal and gopro camera will work for the FC40?

What wiring has to be done for the Walkera G2d. Just power? I don't need the tilt. Does the mount attatch directly to the Phantom or is something else needed. I would like to use this off the quad also.

I dont"t know the answer, BUT, you're gonna want the tilt.
I'll bet a nickle. :D

I finally found the answers on youtube. You can just ad power and it works. It can also tilt if I get a longer cable to reach inside
quad. I don't care for the look of the tilt in the videos. I may change my mind later. I can also use this as a handheld gimble .
Got it from Amazon for $77.?? and free shipping.

Nice, but what do I do with my Cheap Chinese Gimbal?
I'm going to buy the plastic Walkera. :D

Thanks Monte55.

Hey GeneralKitFisto, you still there? I think we got a winner for you.

You can actually wire up the g2d without having to solder or splice anything. You can get xt60 adapter with a jst on it. A two pin jst, not the jst that's on the phantom battery.

Then get jst extension - make sure you buy a two pin jst - the gimbal comes with a 2 pin jst

And breadboard cable for your pitch control

There are many different places and specific parts you can use.

All you have to do to get it on the phantom is rotate the top plate around 180 so it's not under the battery compartment. This will be obvious once you see it. You can open the phantom up, run the power and pitch through the back legs and it'll look very clean. It comes on and off easily, and you have a way to disconnect power and pitch easily.

I am very new and have just fitted a Walkera 3 axis gimbal and SJcam4000 Wifi to an FC40. I also fitted prop guards. I appear to have cooked 2 no-name batteries with two very disappointing 3 minute flights! WHY? The extra weight of this rig is 250gms.

Welcome to the PaRtY Tim Flood,

What kind of batteries, brand, mAh, "C" rating?
What elevation do you fly from?
What else have you done to your bird?

The more info you offer, the easier it is for us to help. :D

I solved the shifting camera problem with some double sticky 3m tape. Works marvelous! I am know youtube star or RCist, but I did make a video of my installation and troubles (including a fire) that might help others out who are looking to do this upgrade. Mine works great, and I have included some video samples in the following video links.

Can't find part 2, but part 1 was a bit entertaining. Did you check to see if you had power before soldering the wires to the terminals?

Yup, a bit more carefully though. My gimbal is working great, can't say enough good things about it.

I'm glad yours still work. Mine quit when I smoked the wires... I filled the Phantom with smoke, the top was on. Exciting but really sucked.

With the Walkera 2-D, you can just hook up all 3 pins from the F1 port (or is it the F2?) to the Gimbal and it will work flawlessly. You don't have run separate power to it or anything. Just enable the port in the NAZA software and you're done.

Does the plastic Walkera 2D fit with the standard landing gear or does it require the extended?

It is extremely close to the ground with the regular legs. You really need to get the extended ones. You can land it with the regular legs, but if the ground is in level you'll donk the camera.
