What causes 1080 resolution to be jerky, but 720 is not?

I've seen some people in Youtube videos say that they favor the 1080 setting for video, and others say that they think 720 is better.

If I do 1080, the video is jerky. It will be smooth for a few seconds, then halt for a tiny fraction of a second, then run smooth, then halt again.

What causes that jerkiness?

It is your computer. It is likely without a powerful enough video processor. You can either try dropping the fps of your recording, get a more powerful computer...or you can experiment with other video players. Some have reported that on computers where one player stuttered, another did not, indicating that player was a bit more efficient with its video processing. You'll have to play with it.

As an alternative, you can always take the video you recorded and down sample it in your video editor to a lower fps, and that may remove the stutter on your machine.

Yep, it's my computer. A whole bunch of things were acting funny on it today. It finally just crashed completely tonight.

I viewed the videos on another one of my computers and they looked fine.
