Am I reading it right on Dji go app you need the bird on for the virtual tutorial? I thought it was just the app open and controller on

Correct. Your bird must be turned on. Take the props off first :)

The tutorials do not require the phantom to be on. The Flight Simulator does require the phantom to be powered on.

I have never used that and assumed you meant the simulator .
