Video editing for picture in picture?

Before buying my FPV gear, I watched more YouTube videos than I can count of other Phantom FPVers who posted them. Many of them had smaller videos inset into the main video of the onboard camera's view/OSD info. Any info on what programs for making such videos would be appreciated. Also, how are the two synced together?

You could use any non linear editing system that allows you to work in layers. You'd put your gopro video on the bottom layer and your recorded fpv video on the top layer. Then you can scale down the top layer and move it into the position you want. Usually a clapperboard is used to sync multiple cameras but anything that gives you a point on both cameras is fine (most people just clap once in front of the cameras) Just make sure that both videos are recorded at the same fps otherwise they will slip over the duration of your video.
