Using 4K camera on the P3 Advanced

i've swopped the main gimbal board on my p3 advanced. fitted a p3 pro board inc fan. left the camera as is and its now shooting in 4k. happy days
Still no issues with it? Gimbal main board upgrade is cheaper than whole gimbal with camera upgrade, although more difficult to find.

Did anyone else tried just swapping P3P gimbal main board and use it with P3A camera shooting at 4k ?

Good idea. But are they really identical?
The Advanced and the Professional seem to have the same sensor, but do have different markings (HD and 4K).

No, boards are not identical. But many people confirm that it's possible to use the whole P3P gimbal (including the camera) with P3A, which after firmware upgrade becomes P3P. But as the sensors are identical, it looks that it's enough to switch gimbal mainboard only. And that's what ade1b actually did (that's what I cited).

My question is actually to ade1b if he had no problems since the swap.

I was able to get hold of a gimbal from a crashed P3P and I took it apart and took my P3A apart and swapped just the part of the assembly that has the fan and circuit board on it. Then installed the P3P firmware and powered it up.

After the surgery, the gimbal tilt was way off but I ran the gimbal self-calibration and it fixed it right up. Took it up for a flight and am now shooting 4K video! Everything went flawlessly! There were only 5 screws that needed removing, 2 ribbon connectors outside, 2 inside.

I did have to cut off and replace the clear plastic pieces that connect the gimbal to the white shock absorbers even though there is a YouTube video that suggests you should be able to take them apart without destroying them.

Here's a picture of the piece I used from the P3P. (This pic is actually of the piece I replaced in the advanced - but it's the only piece that needs to be taken from the P3P to turn your advanced into a professional!)

Thanks Tenly, this finally confirms that it's enough to replace gimbal mainboard only to have P3P, and the whole camera with its electronics is exactly the same.

Have a gimbal main board and the rest of my camera( p3p 4K ) the camera separated at the yaw arm and can be fixed with a new yaw arm and cable. If anyone is interested pm me.
