Uploading to YouTube sucks.

When I upload videos to YouTube, the videos were shot in 4K and I've selected YouTube to upload the original HD format.

Upon playing I back I only get the quakity options of 720p and below.

Why is this?

To get the full 4k, you have to upload the original file (mov or MP4) to YouTube. I have used the YouTube encoder with the same issue. It will only load to 1080p 60fps. The true 4k are huge for me, so it will take a long time to process on YouTube (10 min is an all nighter for me). Hope that helps.

If you give it more time, it should allow you to choose a higher res.

After uploading is complete youtube makes several encoding passes. If you come back later to the vid (10 to 15 mins is usual), you should find all res options available.

If you're uploading the video from the phone its recorded in 720. You have to grab the video from the microsd card to get your true resolution.

I use the latest version of powerdirector which has a youtube friendly interface where u select the video quality. I highly recommend it.

What Paul Southport said is also true. Even after the video is published, give it a few minutes to fully encode.
