UAVWeather.com (aka PhantomWeather.com)

Re: PhantomWeather.com

I'll bet CloudsNeverDie is pooped. You folks gave him/her a good workout today.

As previously stated, real-time software development, WOW.
That's how to sell a new product.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Thats the great part, he is offering up his fantastic creation for free use. We need more developers like him furthering the hobby with helpful kindness.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Thanks for your kind words guys! Tell your friends :)

Continuing the spirit of real-time software development, I just fixed the cookie / session issue, so it should remember your ZIP code forever now.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Clouds do you know Java? Android development should be pretty straight forward if you get around to it.

This is awesome. Thank you.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Until an iOS app materializes you can do these steps to add an icon to your home screen on your Apple devices.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

CloudsNeverDie - first, really like your handle! I am very impressed with your work, really nice job! Great idea and cool attitude you have going!

My favorite thing is that I can adjust the filters so everything is green and I can fly every day! LOVE IT!

Re: PhantomWeather.com

I would recommend you change the default K index threshold. Anything below 7 should not be a problem.

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Thanks guys! I'll think about the Kp index threshold, will try to do some research to find out exactly what level is safe.

I'm announcing a major upgrade this morning: it now works internationally, not just for US ZIP codes. It uses Google Maps for geocoding, so any address that works in Google Maps will work on PhantomWeather.com. Enjoy!

Re: PhantomWeather.com

I've a question about the wind chill numbers - I live in Florida so it's hard for me to relate to wind chill, but I thought the effect of wind chill would be lower than the actual temp. Maybe I don't understand...

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Good observation! I just noticed the wind chill equation I was using is only valid when it's 10 deg C or below and when the wind speed is above 3mph. Fixed!

Re: PhantomWeather.com

Nice work, CloudsNeverDie. :) Bookmarked. It's been a while since I checked but I think Google allows you a few thousand geocode hits per day.

Here's a suggestion for your job jar: Plots! Use the highcharts.com charting javascript API to embed graphs of your various metrics over time. For example, you could plot temp, wind, Kp, etc on a line chart. Not hard to do.

Check out: http://www.highcharts.com/demo/line-labels

Thanks!

Re: PhantomWeather.com
