Yesterday by the time I got back , set up a account with DG1. Charged the batteries and all.
It was dark, No time to fly.
Got up this morning. Had somebody telling me about a RG club.
I went about 17 miles up the lake. There was somebody there flying RC Electric Airplanes.
I inteduced myself, he as a member. Watched him fly a couple of his planes.
He has been doing it for 3 yrs. He has like 30 batteries. Wow.

He was the only person there. He was telling about me becoming a member if I was interested.

Asked if I could test my Phantom 4.

He let me go to the end of the covered area away from him.

I did the compass calibration . Turned out good. Said GPS good.
I did the remote crank up with the button you slide over.

I raised it al little higher off the ground. Wind was blowing about 12mph.

moved it over to the left about 30'. Moved it back to the center.
Then moved it over to the right about 50'.
Then moved it forward about 60'

Kinda got to shaking. everything was going great.

Said to myself. Lets see how Return to home works.
Pressed the button once and it did nothing.
I pressed and held it a little longer. Heard return to home.
It raised up higher like 100' and started coming toward me.
Was wondering if it was gonna pass me.
Then out of nowhere it started coming down right where it took off.
I said this was a great day.
I did good.

It was very fun.

Time to go and have some lunch.

Now I need to get another battery.

Got home and my FAA numbers came on the internet.
They are good for like 3 yrs.

Watching that copter climb to the RTH altitude kind of catches your attention fast, doesn't it!!

The first time I saw that I thought I had really messed something up, but it dutifully hit the RTH altitude, came back, stopped right above my head and landed spot on. At least I knew it worked!!

Congratulations on your solo flight!!

Yeah I've only used rth once, on purpose. I had set out a welcome mat my buddy had at his camper. Flew a little and told him I wanted to test the rth. It landed back on that throw rug maybe 6" from where it took off! I was pretty impressed.
Glad you had a good day pal.

Sent from my XT1585 using PhantomPilots mobile app

Its the same if you turn the controller off stimulating a lost signal. If you have it set to return home back she comes

Congrats on a good flight. It only gets better from here.

About the batteries, I go out with 4 batteries, which works out well. I use a pair of mobile chargers, they help a lot.

Have fun! Cheers

I'm hoping to go by a Best Buy and see if I can find another battery tomorrow afternoon if possible.
Can only git one right now.

I wanted another spare set of blades.
Had a couple tell me that if I ever have a Blade to bump something to replace it immediately.
That is one of the ways the Drones falls out of the sky.

Any damage to the blades then they will need replacing right away as they will no longer be trimmed.
Don't forget when you get another battery you may need to update the firmware in the battery as it may not have the latest version

I found out you have to keep your eyes on them. You can loose them pretty fast.
Especially if your hard of hearing like I am.

Thanks for the reminder.

This morning I was trying to update the controller. Think that is what you call it.
And it wouldn't update. Seen a picture showing me to plug the cord in the Phantom 4. It said it needs a update.
When it was updating, it said updating the battery for better battery life.
Heck I thought the update was something to do with flying the phantom before that.
