I watched this video from MrPulltab (http://youtu.be/vgYbgg2hFF4) and read in the comments that he was flying stock with only a "windsurfer" antenna booster. This led me to research what the heck a "windsurfer" antenna booster was (http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html).
I was going to follow the plan and use aluminum foil but decided on an aluminum can instead. I followed the template and carefully cut the can. I used a file folder for the center piece as I don't have any business card stock laying around. This is what I came up with:
I flew 1.1km today without loosing my control signal with this attached to my transmitter. I have never attempted to fly that far before so I'm not sure if it helped or how much farther I could have gone. I figure, it can't hurt as long as I am pointing in the general direction of where I am flying.
